Moving home can become a frustrating and costly excercise.  There's a lot to get ready before and on the day of the move. To help reduce the stress we've put together some helpful tips.

  1. Pack early - Many people leave it to the last minute to pack boxes, by doing this it will only add to the stress of your move. Start packing 4 weeks prior to your moving date.  This may sound ridiculous but you'll be surprised by the amount of contents you will need to pack.
  2. Hire moving boxes - a great way to save money is to hire moving boxes for a fraction of the cost of buying them. You can hire boxes from reputable furniture removalists. This will not only save you money but is more environmentally friendly.
  3. Have a garage sale – having a garage sale is a great way to reduce the amount of contents to pack and move plus you can make some extra money. At One Agency Reeves Properties we offer free garage sale signage to help you attract more people. Just book it in early and you can secure the signage. The less you need to pack the more time you will save yourself.  Remember any items left over after your garage sale may be donated to a charity in your local area.
  4. Storage – one option to consider is self storage that can be short or long term. Some moving companies offer storage when you move with them. This can help you prior and even after moving into your new home as you settle in.
  5. Hiring professionals – as much as we want to try to move by ourselves to save some money, hiring removalists can have its benefits. If moving ourselves, we need to consider hiring trucks, truck insurance, packing and un-packing the entire load. This can take you time plus you will need to pull in some favours from family or friends. Using an accredited moving company with AFRA ( Australian Furniture Removers Association) will ensure your move is carried out by professionals. Hiring help can save you time, be less stressful, as well as less taxing on your body.
We hope these tips help you in planning your move and result in a less stressful process.  Good Luck!
